We have witnessed some special performances in the completed and abandoned games last weekend. Parag Nair (Griffins) and Ramees Hassan (Martians) continued their top form taking 5 wickets each, while Jaison Ignatious (Martians), Aghilan Thamarakulam (MCC) and Ameer Ali (Challengers) scored half centuries.
Martians beat JLCC on Saturday at Hainault with the help of an outstanding innings from Jaison Ignatius (54) and Tobin Thomas (30*) to score a decent total on the board and later this was supported by excellent bowling by Ramees Hassan taking 5 wickets. Earlier at one stage JLCC reduced Martians to 114/7, but could not take advantage in the later part of the game. Binas Muhammed contributed significantly with the bat and ball while Ameer Mehfil and Ashiq Koleth bowled well.
Parag Nair’s excellence with the ball again helped Griffins to register win against Panthers on Sunday at Lewisham. Panthers were reduced to a relatively small total by Parag who took 5 wickets. Later dependable Vijay Bhasker (40*) and Joseph Cletus (36*) finished the game comfortably.
In the abandoned game at Hainault on Saturday, Challengers posted a decent total on the board. Ameer Ali (56) scored a half century while Jeevan Jyothi (36) played an excellent inning for Challengers. Sukhvinder Singh took 4 wickets and Sujith soman continued his form taking 3 wickets for London Strikers. London Strikers inning didn’t last long as rain interrupted the game and umpire had no choice but to call off the game.
Yet another game abandoned due to rain on Saturday at Bedford where MCC and Bedford Malayalee CC shared points. MCC scored a good total on the board hugely depended on their ace batsman Aghilan Thamarakulam finding his supreme form back first time in this season scoring a convincing unbeaten half century (94*) with the support of Sree Govind (42) who played a good innings. BMCC run chase didn’t last long as the rain interrupted the game.
