Congratulations to the winners Griffins, MCC, Challengers and London strikers for winning their first 40 over game and special appreciation to London Strikers for winning the fair play award of the week.
Since it’s the beginning of the season, overall it was a bowler’s weekend as we have seen three 5+ wickets performances, not to forget some outstanding knocks with the bat. It was inspirational to see some of the oldies performing exceptionally well along with the new talents.
Power packed Challengers beat Martians in a tough contest at Fairlop on Saturday with the help of excellent bowling by Smibin Raphy taking 6 wickets while Vinod Sasi consolidated their inning carried the bat through till the end scoring a brilliant half century. Earlier Ramees Hassan scored a well-made half century for Martians and later fought back strongly with the ball led by Arafath Muhammed claiming the first ever Hat trick in LSL cricket league.
Experienced veteran ace star Sujith Somans all-round performance once again led the way for London Strikers to register their first victory over Panthers at Mill Hill on Sunday. Earlier Sujith scored an excellent half century for Strikers and finished with taking 3 wickets later. Shiya Muhammed led the bowling attack taking 4 crucial wickets for Strikers. Panthers had a bad start at the early stage of their innings apart from the breath-taking knock of Siraj Mukriyan scoring a quick fire half century.
MCC won their first game against JLCC on Saturday at Hainault. Huge thanks to their veteran ace bowler Shahul Hameed taking 6 wickets to bowl out JLCC for a small total. Earlier MCC scored a reasonable total heavily depended on Sanju Karthikeyan scoring a patient half century. Earlier Ashique Koleth took 4 wickets for JLCC.
Enthusiastic youngster Parag Nair’s excellent performance with the ball helped Griffins to register their first win against BMCC at Hainault on Saturday. BMCC were never comfortable with Parag who took 6 wicket to reduce BMCC inning to a relatively small total to chase for Griffins. Later Joseph Cletus scored an outstanding half century for Griffins to chase the total comfortably.
