LSL CROSSPAY Cricket League 2018 – Week 5

Congratulations to this week winners London Strikers, Panthers, BMCC and Challengers.
Well done Griffins – Winner of fair play award this week.
Outstanding performers of the week are Johnley Jacob (BMCC) and Ashique Koleth (JLCC) who took 5+ wickets each, while Ameer Ali (Challengers), Smibin Raphy (Challengers), Siraj Mukriyan (Panthers) and Amjith Khan (London Strikers) scored half centuries.
London Strikers beat Martians on Saturday at Fairlop. Thanks to an excellent all-round performance by Amjith Khan taking 3 wickets to bowl out Martians to a small total of 113 with the help of Shiya Muhammed (3 wickets) and later scored a patient and unbeaten half century well supported by Janish Pillai (23) to chase the target. Earlier at one stage London Strikers reduced to 17/4, but Martians could not take advantage in the later part of the game. Captain Arafath Muhammed (36*) and Tobin Thomas (3 wickets) offered some resistance for Martians.
Mukriyan brothers outstanding all-round performance helped Panthers to register their first win in the league against MCC on Saturday at Hainault. MCC were reduced to a relatively small total of 112 by excellent bowling performance from Panthers. Midlaj Mukriyan & Navas Muhammed took 3 wickets each while Siraj Mukriyan took 2 wickets. Later Siraj Mukriyan scored a quick fire half century well supported by Midlaj Mukriyan (35) finished the game comfortably in 13 overs.
Yet another low scoring game on Saturday at Valentines Park, BMCC bowled out JLCC for 77 runs with the help of stunning bowling performance by Johnley Jacob taking 7 wickets. It wasn’t easy for BMCC as Captain Ashique Koleth took some early wickets to put BMCC in the back foot. Ashique finished with 5 wickets while Praveen Lonappan and Sreekumar Ullappillil steadied the ship for BMCC to register their first victory in the league.
LSL witnessed the toughest contest in the league as table toppers Griffins took on Challengers at Bromley on Sunday. Challengers continued their unbeaten run defeating Griffins by 4 wickets. Smibin Raphy and Ameer Ali scored cracking half centuries while Smibin took 3 wickets earlier to won the man of the match award. Earlier sensible bating by Dileep Narayanan (45) and Vijay Bhasker (39) helped Griffins to record a reasonable total of 199 on the board. But this wasn’t enough to bowl out the inform Challengers batsmen.
