LSL Football League 2017 – Week 2

A convincing performance from Herts FC lead by their captain Antony Thomas put Herts FC in a comfortable position in the points table with 13 points from 5 games. Herts started their journey in the league for the first time on Saturday with an authentic win over Croydon Blasters (7-0) and maintained their performance with a fighting draw against Martians (1-1).

Blasters fought their heart out against the table toppers LFC, but the brilliance of LFC strikers Shameer and Fawaz helped LFC with a 5-2 win. LFC continued their winning streak convincingly beating Martians (4-0) in the next game.

Much awaited game between the two favourites of the tournament LFC and Herts ended LFC’s unbeaten winning record of 6 games win in a row with a 3-0 & 3-1 win for Herts in back to back games. Herts stuck to their plans from the beginning and excellent team game by Tom, Melwin, Jubil and Ruble took the game away from LFC.  Their game formation was a treat to watch with their captain Antony Thomas leading from the front. Antony was the top scorer of week 2 with 5 goals. Shameer of LFC scored 4 goals to continue as the top scorer of the league with total of 10 goals.

Tournament is now wide open for many teams as favourites with LFC still leading the table with 18 points from 7 games followed by Herts with 13 points from 5 games. Lot more football to follow in coming weeks for the Malayalee football fans.
